Is there a way to find out the history of this instrument. Serial number on the second valve case is L and under that is 16384.A great choice for those players who prefer a heavier feel to the horn. The F2 flugelhorn is the heavy brother of the F1, also with a.413' bore but only available with a 6.7' bell diameter and a heavy brass valve section.Vintage 1976 -1977 Couesnon Flugelhorn -branded as a stencil Elkhart for sales in the USA. While visiting with a good friend one day, he mentioned that the new Conn Vintage 1 flugel was a great instrument so out came the check book and soon came the horn. Next came a Yamaha and we lived together for many years. My next flugel was a Couesnon and the darkness was pleasurable but the intonation was horrid. The fire resulted in loss of all the company records, including those which would make it possible to determine the year of manufacture from the serial number. ![]() In 1978, the contract with Gretch to import Couesnon instruments to the United States was terminated and new Couesnon instruments have been very rare in the US since that time.
